We exist because the Rio Grande Valley was left behind.
Four counties. 1.4 million people. A 30% uninsured rate that is not a statistic — it is a neighborhood. It is the cashier who skips her follow-up appointment. The farmworker who waits until the ER is the only option. The teacher's aide who earns too much for Medicaid and too little for anything else.
Major carriers exited. The market decided the RGV wasn't worth staying for.
We decided differently.
What We Are Building
1Health1Life is a community health benefit organization — not an insurance company, not a broker, not a product shipped in from somewhere else. We are building the permanent health institution the Rio Grande Valley never had: employer-sponsored coverage with $0 copay, $0 deductible, and $0 coinsurance, bundled with dental, vision, and accidental life insurance under one enrollment and one invoice.
No bills waiting at home. No choosing between a doctor visit and a car payment. One promise, kept every time.
Who We Serve
Small and mid-size employers across Hidalgo, Cameron, Starr, and Willacy counties — and the workers who depend on them. If you run a business in the RGV and your employees don't have real coverage, we are building this for you. If you work in the RGV and have never had a health plan that actually worked, we are building this for you too.
